이창원 작가(1972)는 서울대학교 미술대학에서 조각을 전공하고 독일 쿤스트아카데미 뮌스터에서 파인아트(Freie Kunst)를 전공, 졸업했습니다. 작가는 2004년 독일의 쿤스트뮤지움 솔링엔에서 개최한 제58회 베르기셰 쿤스트아우슈텔룽(Bergische Kunstausstellung)에서 오디언스 어워드를 수상하였습니다. 2007년도에 독일 쾰른에서 열리는 아트페어 아트콜론에서 뉴탈렌트(new talent)에 선정되었으며, 김종영미술관, 일본의 모리미술관 등 세계 유수의 미술관과 갤러리에서 다수의 개인전 및 그룹전을 거치며 작가로서의 기반을 확고하게 다져왔습니다. 서울시립미술관, 대구미술관, 국회의사당, 송암스페이스센터 등에 작품이 소장되어 국제적인 평가와 더불어 그 작품성을 인정받고 있습니다.
Changwon Lee(1972) studied B.F.A Sculpture at Seoul National University and received Meisterschueler(at Prof. Guillaume Bijla) at Akademiebrief Kunstakademie Muenster, Germany. The artist was awarded 'Publikumspreis' in 58. Bergische Kunstausstellung, held by Museum Baden in Solinge, Germany. He was nominated for 'New Talent' at Art Cologne in Cologne, Germany and held numerous solo exhibitions and group exhibitions at prominent art museums and galleries in the world, including Kim Chong Yung Museum in Korea and Mori Art Museum in Japan. With the international attention, Lee’s works are collected at SeMA, Korea; Daegu Art Museum, Korea; The National Assembly of the Republic Korea, Korea; and Songam Space Center, Korea.
